HALIFAX ANSAH’S LETTER TO RTP AWARDS

In less than 24hrs of announcing the nominee list of the 2016 RTP Awards, a lot of punching is come up from most industry players and concern citizens. A lot of issues have been raised by the media players in the regions. Looks like the awards is mainly centered in the capital. The question of a one man show seems to be tarnishing the image of this beautiful award scheme that honors the hard work
of the media.

Why are the regions marginalized? Is it a case of low budget or lack of sponsorship? Is it deliberate? Is this another case of someone’s business than a credible award scheme? What happens to the hard working media folks in the regions? Is the award scheme becoming a shameful venture rather than an honorary one? These and more are questions flying all over.

Halifax Ansah of News One and Daily Guide also put his concerns across and hoping to get answers which are not likely to happen. Here is what he wrote to the board of RTP Awards

Dear Board Members of RTP,

We have seen your list. Congrats to the nominees.

But I beg oooo....If it is about contemporary radio presence, following and influence, then Sammy Flex certainly should have qualified for the categories of Radio Morning Show Host, Radio Talk Show Host, Best Radio Personality (Greater Accra), and honestly the show he hosts, AM Pluzz qualifies for Radio Morning Show of the Year and Radio Programme of the Year.

There is a glaring flaw with the nomination list. And let's be courageous to state it in clear language that morning radio is not a preserve for political content. I am not a panel of AM Pluzz but in all sincerity, the show has a far greater influence and impact than some of the names in the categories I just listed.
Lets be truthful and fair for once.
I feel ashamed!!!

How do you feel about the awards and what are your thoughts? Kindly feel free to share with us.
