COUNTRY MUSIC IS GROWING IN GHANA - DESMOND LAMPTEY

Radio presenter Desmond Lamptey says Country music has improved in Ghana compared to the old when Ghanaians only knew of Kenny Rodger and Dolly Parton.

In a chat with Milestone House Gh, The Smooth revealed radio stations now deem it an honour to add
country music to their playlist and that’s an improvement. “Now there are radio stations in Ghana who add it to their format. If a radio station can play a whole hour of country music on a drive time show, then we're getting there.”

He gave credit to the ‘Air Marshal’ Tommy Annan-Forson and Charlie Sam of blessed memory for their immerse contribution to the country music fraternity.
The Class FM presenter however stated he is not working for awards. I think the work I do go beyond awards.”

I love radio. It feels good to be on the radio to connect with lives and save lives. For me it is more important than awards. And I have said this before and will say it again that for me, the lovely messages I receive each time I'm on radio telling me how I'm affecting people with what I'm doing is an enough award. Life is about people not awards. We're too obsessed about awards than the work and personal improvement.”
