THE ONAAPO FEVER

After the 2016 elections, songs which were sang and mainly produced for election purposes and to political parties have now become hit songs that are played on daily basis.

A song like “Onaapo” by David Aja is one of these tracks. A music that was the official theme song for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has now become a song that is being played everywhere. It is played at weddings, engagements, spots, even in Churches and you will see people dancing to the tune of this song.

Onaapo has become a very popular song that it even has a gospel version now. A video surfaced on facebook where church members were seen dancing to the gospel version of the song in church. Although David Aja said he came up with this song for President Mahama because he is an attractive and a very marketable material, the song has become the favorite of most people especially the NPP.

On a radio station, listeners were asked of some of the songs reigning now and the song that will be used to celebrate this Christmas and most of them answered “Onaapo”. So its official now, everybody is in for Onaapo and even members of the new patriotic party (NPP) also sing and dance along to this song.

The Onaapo song is already crossed the boundaries of Ghana and on the international level as it was performed live in Nigeria over the weekend at the GLO Carols Night.
