After winning and receiving awards as the best rapper and hip hop singer in the 2013 Ghana Music Awards, Kwame Ametepee Tsikata popularly known as Manifest says “Popularity is cheap in Ghana” when asked if he is satisfied with the acclaim that he receives so far in Ghana.
However at one airport square on 15th December 2016, the artist made known that it’s not acclaim that he will eat, and do not really worry much about that but what he cares more about is making the music
that people like, being successful with it and taking it to the next level in terms of his where he want the music to go.
He says, “You probably always see that people will go vocal that we deserve more acclamation right, ermm I think it’s always tricky when you ask it of me because I am not the one who worries about that. I worry about making the music that people like, being successful with it and going further in terms of my visions to where the music should go. We have scratched that surface. You know ‘popularity in Ghana is cheap’, it’s easy to be popular in Ghana, so it’s never my goal. If acclamation is awards, that cannot be my worries so I don’t know. Definitely I have enjoyed a lot more, we use to struggle to be part of the conversation and I have now become a conversation, so there has been a balance shift in certain things that really for us does not signify I’m arriving anywhere. The journey is much longer”.
