LYDIA FORSON HOLD FEMINIST RESPONSIBLE OF SELECTIVE ACTIVISM.

The Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson, in a write up responded to Hon. Ken Agyapong’s harsh attacks on the person of the chairperson of Electoral Commission, saying Ghanaians created “the monster that he pretends he is” and therefore must accept blames.

The actress has mutilated gender activists for selecting women to support when they come under verbal and physical abuse from men.

She wrote,

“You created him, you urged him on, you cheered him each time he went lower than the last, you revered him, you feared him and in the end, you helped create the monster that he pretends to be”.

Lydia pointed to the fact that women activist in the country didn’t defend Afia Schwarzenegger who has been verbally abused by the same Agyapong, guessing sarcastically that Assin Central MP’S attack was now against the favorite of gender activist that’s why the victim is being defended by them.

“Didn’t he say worse about Afia Schwarzenegger? Didn’t he all but call her a harlot? Didn’t he say
she had HIV? Didn’t he sit on radio and TV to make these statements? Weren’t women in the building around him? So what’s new? Or wait, let me guess he did it against someone we ‘like, respect or deem worthy’ or someone that interest or benefits us in a way”.

She questions the sudden show of support to the EC boss and again launched a sarcastic line.

“Let me guess, you were too busy getting manicures and sipping on tea with bites of shortbread deciding on what colour to paint their nails. Afia and the many others weren’t worth your energy. After all, she brought it upon herself, as many of you wrote on your wall. Some went as far as saying, she’d attacked the Ministry of Gender in the past and so didn’t deserve attention.”

Kennedy Agyapong has come under enormous critics for accusing the EC boss, Charlotte Osei, of exchanging sex for her position. This statement did not go down well with some section of the pubic, including women groups and certain civil society organization.

The Minster of Gender Children and Social Protection has asked for an apology from the MP on behalf of the EC boss. The Ghana Bar Association (GBA), says the Agyapong’s comments are “distasteful, offensive, abusive and derogatory not only the EC boss but to all women and has condemned the MP.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP, is yet to officially comment on the issue).
