STONEBWOY, MZVEE AND OTHERS REP GHANA AT MAMAS


The MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 will be held on October 22 in Johannesburg and will be hosted by South African radio and TV host, Trevor Noah. The MAMA's as its popularly known is arguably the biggest award scheme in Africa. This is the 6th edition with the maiden edition held at Abuja in Nigeria.


Last year’s edition saw Ghanaian acts losing out in the various categories they were nominated. The good news for Ghanaians was when Stonebwoy joined Burna Boy and AKA on stage to perform their hit song ‘baddest’.

R2bees, Mzvee, Stonebwoy and reigning VGMA artist of the year E.L are Ghanaians who made the nomination list for this year’s award. 

R2bees have been nominated for the group of the year award. The ‘gboza’ hitmakers have been very active releasing hit songs after hit songs and performing across the globe. They have been nominated along with Sauti Sol(Kenya), Toofan(Togo), Navy Kenzo (Tanzania) and Mi Casa (South Africa).

2016 BET award nominee, Mzvee secured a slot for the artist of the year (female) category. This is not a surprise to many as she has been enjoying massive airplay and have been very visible on big stages to woe her fans. She stands against the likes of Josey (Ivory Coast), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania) and the ‘johnny ‘hitmaker, Yemi Alade (Nigeria).


Ghanaian dancehall act, Stonebwoy who recently collaborated with American superstar Trey Songz also got nominations for the Best Live acts awards. However the "BHIMSIDENT" has to battle with Flavour (Nigeria), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Eddy Kenzo and Mafikizolo (South Africa) to be awarded as the best live act from Africa.

BBNZ signed artist, E.L along with Adiouza (Senegal), Bebe Cool (Uganda), Burna Boy (Nigeria), Den G (Liberia), Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe), Jay Rox (Zambia), Kansoul (Kenya), Kiss Daniel (Nigeria), Lij Michael (Ethiopia), LXG (Sierra Leone), Meddy (Rwanda), Messias Marioca (Mozambique), Prince Kaybee (South Africa), Reda Taliani (Algeria),  Saad Lamjarred (Morocco), Sabri Mosbah (Tunisia), Sidiki Diabate (Mali),Tamer Hosny (Egypt), The Dogg (Namibia) and Yamoto Band (Tanzania) for the 
Listener’s choice award.
