GHANAIAN ARTISTE SHOULD NOT ALWAYS THINK ABOUT MONEY - MAVIS ANIM

Mavis Anim (May May Productions), an event organizer based in South Africa has made a loud cry to Ghanaian musicians not to only seek money but rather think about their exposure to the international market.

She made this plea in an interview with Stone on the 1000 Degrees program when she was asked how Ghanaian artistes are being recognized and accepted in South Africa.
“Ghanaian artistes are not very popular in South Africa. The problem is that, they think about money all the time. I once invited some of these few artistes to come perform and the amount they were charging was ridiculous. Sometimes it’s good to make sacrifices just to get to where you want to be.
Take the likes of Davido and Wizkid from Nigeria and even Diamond Platinum from Tanzania, they used to come to shows and charge nothing for it but look at where they are now. They were doing all this because they wanted international recognition and true to this they have it now. So it’s not supposed to be all about money for the Ghanaian artiste”. She said.

She again emphasized on the fact that Ghanaians should do lots of collaborations with international artiste and not for the money but for the exposure.
Mavis later disclosed exclusively on 1000 Degrees that people think she is just into events.

“I work in the government in South Africa. Am a 9 to 5 worker and when I close I get straight to my productions. I try to be at every event not just for the fun of it but to get my connections which am making positive use of. There are lots of opportunities in South Africa that I will edge Ghanaians to take advantage of”.
