Emmanuel Andrews Samini popularly known in showbiz as SAMINI has blamed the country’s

recent power crisis (Dumsor) for music lovers lack of interest in his song and his inability to release hit songs that can make it to the music chart shows on radio stations across the country.

DEBORAH VANESSA RELEASES VIDEO FOR CONTROVERSIAL SONG GHANA JOLLOF

Deborah Vanessa, also known as Sister Derbie has released visuals to her latest single Ghana

jollof. The song premiered on 4Syte TV, produced by Kuvie, compares the rice dish from Ghana and Nigeria. 

The comparison sees Nigeria’s Jollof receiving unflattering descriptions, being

called too “white” for instance. Sister Derbie is no stranger to composing controversial songs. 

In 2012, she released Uncle Obama, a song about wanting to give one Mr Obama’s banana to her 

monkey. The song won her international acclaim and an appearance on CNN. 

Born Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu (sister of Onelove The Kobolo), Sister Derbie has also been involved in TV presenting, modeling, music, 

academia and graphic designing.

THE AFRICAN OSCARS (NAFCA) 2016

The 6th annual NAFCA also known as Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards will be on the 17th of September 2016 at the prestigious Orpheum Theatre of Los Angeles, California, USA. 

The Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards, commonly known as The NAFCA, is U.S. awards for achievements in the film industry and The NAFCA Honors are awarded to recognize outstanding individuals whose professional careers have been marked by extraordinary personal and professional accomplishments.

 Honorees and winners are awarded the NAFCA Trophies, officially the Award of Merit that is much better known by its nickname NAFCA.

“SARKODIE IS NOT HOT” BULLDOG

Lawrence Asiama Hanson, known in showbiz as Bulldog has said that, Ghana's fastest rapper (Sarkodie) is not hot as he used to be.

According to him, no artiste stays active after five years. But rather artistes stay's relevant after that period depending on what they did. Sarkodie is still on top because there is no one to compete him as the country doesn't develop talents.

He said" no one can stay hot after five years. Relevance can be forever. 

Sarkodie has passed hotness, he is very relevant. Sarkodie is still a leader there is nobody who is matching him. 

The entertainment industry hasn't found his replacement. If the country were developing artiste, by now Sarkodie may be  the back burner."

HARD TO GROW YOUNG TALENTS IN GHANA

Ghanaian Afro-pop singer Apaatse says Ghanaians do not provide a working environment for young and up-coming talents to develop the country's entertainment industry.

According to him, the entertainment industry focuses on already established talents.

He said "we don't discover new talents, it is a difficult thing to do as Ghanaians and industry players to discover new people. They like to hold on to the same old thing. We don't give young ones the chance and opportunity to show".

Apaatse released his first single titled wedding day six years ago when he was discovered by 1F entertainment. He also released other singles that he promoted on the street. Not just popular to his music fans, but also got nationwide endorsements including 4syte music video awards nominations and other big feats in Ghana's music industry.

Speaking on where he grew and his talent, he said “you can’t make it when you are not determined from the hood that I grew up .Drugs were sold in the hood where I grew up .All my colleagues I grew up with have their lives messed up. 

I told myself if the country hasn’t recognised me as a musician at the age of 25   I will stop music and leave my hood for something else” all this will tell you where I grew up.

WITCHCRAFT MOVIES ARE KILLING GOOD MOVIES

Chief executive officer of 2 eyes films Mr Samuel Ofori, condemned movie producers who mainly focus on producing movies portraying witchcraft.

He said "movies in Ghana for some time now took a negative turn, our movies which was meant to educate us on issues concerning the future and things we can practically see was channelled by some movie producers to a comic play of witchcraft movies".

Samuel continued "teaching young ones wrongly, these movies has gone to the extent of having young ones blaming their parents for their misfortunes. I strongly stand against such movies".

According to him, these witchcraft movies is made good moral teaching movies received low patronage.

Mr Samuel Ofori went on pleading with movie makers to desist from the act of producing movies portraying witchcraft and rather aim at teaching the young ones good morals to help build the Country.

KWABENA KWABENA HOLDS THIRD EDITION OF THE SAVE A LIFE CONCERT

Ghanaian highlife celebrated musician, Kwabena Kwabena held the third edition of his annual SAVE A LIFE CONCERT at the Banquet Hall, State House on Saturday 2nd July 2016 evening.

In collaboration with the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Kwabena Kwabena entertained all patrons of the event and appealed for all to support in helping to raise funds for the needy children suffering from hole in heart diseases. 

He also appealed to individuals, Philanthropist, Non-Governmental Organizations, the media and all who have the means to support this worthy course. Dr. Serebuo was present to also educate the audience about the existence of the sickness (hole in heart).
