BISHOP T.D. JAKES TO HEADLINE ESSENCE FESTIVAL DURBAN 2017

INTERNATIONAL motivational speaker, author and musician, Bishop T.D. Jakes will headline the Essence Festival Durban All Star Gospel music concert with Joyous Celebration and the Municipality’s Gospel ID winners on Sunday, 1 October.

This was revealed by Acting Deputy City Manager of Economic Development and Planning Cluster Phillip Sithole during the official launch of the 2017 Essence Festival Durban on 19 July at the Joint Jazz Café. Advising people to buy their tickets as early as possible to avoid disappointment, Sithole
said tickets are limited for the gospel concert to be held at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC). Tickets go on sale on Friday, 28 July at Computicket, starting at R195.

In addition, Sithole said South African award winning hip-hop star Nasty C has been confirmed as the headline act for the All Star music concert taking place on Saturday, 30 September at the ICC. He said the rest of the line-up for this show will be updated on a weekly basis. The entire festival will run from 26 September to 1 October, with the key aim of connecting and empowering eThekwini communities.

The festival will feature a technology experience that will focus on youth and talent enhancement. It will also feature a book, art and craft fair, women economic empowerment programmes, money empowerment sessions, beauty and fashion tips, healthy and lifestyle advice and a range of cuisines.

To ensure economic empowerment and exposure for local entrepreneurs, Sithole said this year’s edition of the festival will also run parallel with the business fair seminars and exhibition. Addressing delegates during the launch, Deputy Mayor Councillor Fawzia Peer said: “I am confident that the festival will further boost the City’s coffers after injecting over R230 million into the province’s gross domestic product last year and attracting 60 000 attendees from across the country.” To register for the business fair exhibition stand or attend seminars, contact Ikhono Communications on 031 266 9937/8 or email: angel@ikhono.co.za or visit: www.dbnbusinessfair.com latest by 14 August.
